Following is a driveway makeover project featuring a granite cobblestone driveway with one of the best solutions out there, and the whole process explained in a very few simple steps.
Granite cobblestone, also called setts are a solution for driveways that is proven to guarantee you only the top quality finish. This paving option is hard to beat considering hard wearing cobbles and incredibly durable and low maintenance, if job is done properly.
On this driveway, there was already existing concrete base which had to be dug out. Existing base was replaced with a new hardcore one, which was run over with a heavy vibrating plate compactor to ensure its sturdiness. Next step was to install silver bullnose granite step at the front of the house and the installation of two flowerbeds followed. White riven connemara 75 mm thick walling flowerbeds with identical capping were installed along both sides of the driveway. To get the exact levels, cobblestone borders were placed around the edges, and then the rest of the blocks were laid. The cobbles that were used for the driveway were silver granite cobblestones 100x200x50 mm split finish. All the granite cobbles were laid in dry mix 3 to 1, exceptionally strong mix of sand and cement, and were pointed with wet mix mortar float pointing, to ensure lifetime lasting results. One more reason why, by our opinion, this is one of the best possible options.
